Soul power – The performance and potential of the Soul EV

Kia is currently in the midst of expanding our eco-friendly vehicle line-up as part of our broader road map to becoming a leading brand in advanced automotive technology. With new and sophisticated vehicles being added to Kia’s EcoDynamics sub-band each year, we cannot forget about one of the first models that started it all – the Soul EV.

As Kia’s first all-electric vehicle sold in overseas markets, the Soul EV has enjoyed widespread global popularity, receiving design awards for its funky aesthetics and recognition for its record-setting performance. Kia’s prized box car boasts impressive EV credentials and is considered a top contender in the BEV segment.

Learn about what our Soul EV has to offer!

It is a well-known fact that the performance of battery-powered electric vehicles is more or less dependent on the capacity of the electric battery. Kia Soul EV is equipped with a 27 kilowatt-hours (kWh), 360-volt lithium-ion polymer battery pack where kilowatt-hours indicate the amount of energy in the battery and volts signify horsepower.

The MPGe or miles per gallon equivalent was formulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a standardized way of measuring the mileage ratings for alternative powertrain vehicles. Through extensive testing, the EPA has rated the official combined fuel economy range for the Soul EV model at 105 MPGe, making the model among the most efficient electric-powered vehicles in the market, yet at an affordable price.

However, new changes are coming with the 2018 Soul EV. Revealed to the South Korean domestic market in March, the enhanced Soul EV boasts an upgraded battery pack with 30 kwH and 375 volts of electric power. With this progress, the 2018 Soul EV will definitely provide improved driving range and enhanced performance on the road.

More powerful than ever before, the driving potential of the Kia Soul EV is looking better than ever!
