The 42nd Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is on NOW. Swarms of celebrities have been touching down in Toronto for the film screenings and promotions. If you’re into film and celebrity watching, then this is the perfect time to catch a screening or try to get a glimpse of your favourite celebrity.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at d | bar in the Four Seasons Toronto; both of which are known as hot spots for running into celebrities. Located in the heart of Yorkville, d | bar is a lively bar and lounge offering luxurious cocktails and casual French-American fare by the crew at Café Boulud. The dining menu features small bites and share plates, along with individual mains if you’d like something more substantial.

Grab a friend or significant other and head to d | bar for pre-or post screening cocktails and bites or simply go to splurge and treat yourself as prices are on the higher end of the spectrum. There is a palpable energy here that will leave you buzzing.

Go on a Monday evening for Charcuterie Night or Tuesday from 6-9pm for live music which features a new local musician every week. d | bar will also have special features in celebration of TIFF.

Visit between September 6 – 10 to experience The Garden of Wonder – a pop-up patio designed by Teatro Verde, with custom décor by Perrier-Jouët. Take a break from lounging in this garden oasis and get lost in their temporary photo exhibit featuring a collection of moments captured on camera at TIFF by George Pimentel, Canada’s most renowned celebrity photographer (running from September 6-17).

The No. 60

Here’s a taste at what’s in store for you at d | bar:

No visit here is complete without indulging in one of their pretty and handsome cocktails. If you like bourbon, but can’t handle a stronger cocktail like a Manhattan or an Old Fashioned, try the No. 60 ($20) with Woodford Reserve, Grand Marnier, honey and orange bitters.

It comes in a handsome, sturdy glass and looks just as badass as its stronger counterparts, but its easier to consume thanks to the honey and Grand Marnier.

Yorkville Affair

If a light and elegant cocktail is more your style, try the Yorkville Affair ($20) with rose infused Gin, Elderflower Liqueur, white cranberry and rose petals encased in ice. This customer favourite is one of the prettiest and iridescent cocktails I’ve seen.

Boneless Wings

Fried Chicken Oysters & Boneless Wings ($17) – Ginger-garlic BBQ sauce, sesame, peanuts, lime. A great share plate of very tender pieces of chicken with sticky sweet and lightly spiced flavours.

Ceviche

Ceviche Flight ($18) – A mix of their daily catch, cilantro, citrus and chili served with crispy crostini. I love ceviche and theirs hit all of the flavour notes one comes to expect and desire with this dish.

Sliders

Yankee Sliders ($21) with cheddar cheese, bacon, house sauce, lettuce, tomato, topped with cornichon and a sesame pain au lait. These mini-burgers are fun to share and the meat can be cooked to your choice of medium or well-done.

Lobster Roll Four Seasons Toronto

Lobster Roll with in-house old bay potato chips ($29) – Thick pieces of lobster lightly dressed with tarragon mayo and bits of celery stuffed inside a gently toasted brioche bun. Skip the chips and order their mini lobster roll sliders for $21.

Toronto Four Season dessert

I finished the evening off with a slice of Hazelnut Chocolate Mousse Cake ($9).

d | bar is located at 60 Yorkville Avenue and is open 7 days a week. The Garden of Wonder is open daily from 11:00 a.m. until close, on a first come first serve basis and for private group bookings or buyouts.
