Your hands are telling a lot about your health!

The hands and the nails can tell a lot about your health you just need to pay attention to them. Here are some symptoms and potential health problems associated with your nails and hands.

  • White and blue fingernails

The normal color of your nails should be pink but if they are too white or too blue it might be a sign of poor blood circulation. It can also be a sign of low oxygen levels in your body.

  • Pale nail beds

They are also normally pink and if they are too white it might indicate an iron-deficiency anemia. That is when there aren’t enough red blood cells.

  • Trembling hands

There are many reasons for trembling hands such as some medications, anxiety, or too much caffeine. If that is something that occurs normally then you should visit your doctor to determine the real reason.

  • Weak grip

Some studies have shown that a weak grip indicates greater chances of heart attack or stroke.  The grip is a great indicator of your health, strength, and muscles.

  • Scaly skin patches

This can be as a result of dry skin but if you have them for a longer period of time then you should visit your doctor because the reason might be more serious like some precancerous growths. Pay attention to rough, red patches and check with your doctor.

  • Swollen fingers and hands

Usually swollen fingers aren’t something serious because it can be as a result of dehydration and hormonal cycling. You can just increase the intake of water. But if you swelling is accompanied by some pain and stiffness then it could be a sign of a more serious condition such as rheumatoid arthritis, hypothyroidism, and systemic sclerosis.

  • Sweaty palms

The main reason for that can also be too much caffeine or anxiety. But it can also be a sign of thyroid conditions, menopause, and overactive sweat glands.

  • Longer ring fingers

A study has shown that people whose ring finger is longer than the index finger are more prone to osteoarthritis. And in men, that means an increased risk of prostate cancer.

You should always check your symptoms with a medical professional and never self-diagnose.
