Huawei Mate 10 Pro To Only Support FHD Resolution: UAProf

A newly uncovered User Agent Profile (UAProf) specification that’s said to belong to the Mate 10 Pro suggests that Huawei’s upcoming Android phablet won’t feature a QHD screen like it was originally reported and that the handset will ship with a conventional Full HD panel. Similar listings that are believed to be describing the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Lite also reference a resolution of 1,920 by 1,080 pixels and while the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Lite featured the same resolution, the Mate 9 Pro was a QHD device, making this information somewhat dubious as Huawei is unlikely to downgrade its flagship offering compared to its predecessor. Still, the listings themselves seem to be legitimate as they were not only authored by Huawei but also contain the previously reported codenames of the Mate 10 trio, referencing ALP-L29, HIM-L29, and BLA-L29 which are believed to be Alps, Himalaya, and Blanc, i.e. Mate 10 Lite, Mate 10, and Mate 10 Pro, respectively.

The Mate 10 Pro is also widely believed to boast a relatively bezel-free display panel with a tall aspect ratio of 18:9 (2:1), with the newly revealed UAProf specifications also going against these reports by referencing a 16:9 panel and introducing more confusion in the run-up to the official launch of the Mate 10 series which is scheduled for next Monday, October 16th. According to previous rumors, the Mate 10 Pro will boast a 6-inch display panel and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner situated below a dual-camera setup manufactured and optimized by Leica, with the regular Mate 10 being expected to boast largely similar specs in a smaller package, including the HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC, Huawei’s first AI-focused chip equipped with a dedicated processing unit for artificial intelligence applications and services.

While UAProf listings come directly from original equipment manufacturers, the possibility of the Mate 10 Pro downgrading the resolution of the Mate 10 still seems somewhat unlikely seeing how the Chinese tech giant is preparing to position its upcoming Android flagship as the ultimate offering in the mobile segment enabling everything from AI solutions to advanced virtual reality applications, the latter of which benefit from high-resolution displays. While it’s possible that the unveiled UAProf specifications are inaccurate, seeing mistakes in such listings also isn’t a common occurrence so it remains to be seen what kind of a screen will the Mate 10 Pro truly end up featuring.
