Verizon Wireless is launching a new major software update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab E 8.0, bringing its OS version up to Android 7.1.1 Nougat and introducing Google’s security patch for the month of August. To begin with, Android 7.1.1 Nougat for Verizon’s Samsung Galaxy Tab E 8.0 introduces a new battery management tool that allows users to increase their battery’s potential with new customizable presets for “medium” or “maximum” power savings. Furthermore, the new App Power Monitor detects inactive applications that still affect the battery in the background and further extends battery life by putting these types of applications to sleep. Users looking forward to improving their workflow will be able to take advantage of easier multitasking with the inclusion of a new split-screen mode, and the camera application was also enhanced with a new Effects preview screen allowing users to apply various filters to their content.
