Galaxy Tab S3 Gets Netflix HDR, October Patch On Verizon

Verizon is now distributing a new update that contains bug fixes and new features to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3. Installing this update will allow the tablet to support the High Dynamic Range (HDR) streaming on Netflix, while it also resolves the issue with the fingerprint setup. This software upgrade also includes the October 2017 Android security patch, which fixes several critical vulnerabilities found in the media framework of the operating system. Also, this software upgrade likely includes fixes for six security exploits found in the Samsung’s proprietary skin.

Subscribers of Verizon may choose among several methods in order to install the software package. One option is for the users to simply wait for a notification to arrive on their devices stating that the update can now be installed. Another method that the user may select is to manually trigger the upgrade process by going to the “Software Updates” menu that is found in the device settings. If the customer cannot update their devices either through mobile data or Wi-Fi (for one reason or the other), they may instead connect the tablet to a personal computer and use Samsung’s proprietary software tool to install the update. Before upgrading the device, it is always good to backup your files and images to a personal computer or a microSD card to prevent loss of data, even though the update itself should not affect your files or the tablet in any way, though there’s always a possibility something will go wrong, of course. The new software build can be identified through its firmware version number NRD90M.T827VVRU1AQJ3.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 is powered by the Snapdragon 820 chipset, which is comprised of a quad-core Kryo 64-bit CPU and the Adreno 530 GPU. The tablet sports 9.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2048 by 1536 pixels and it supports the S-Pen Stylus. Contained within the device are 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal flash storage that can be expanded by a microSD card. The Galaxy Tab S3 has 6,000mAh battery to keep the lights on, while its quad speakers are tuned by AKG. The tablet ships with Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed although the manufacturer’s proprietary skin runs on top of Google’s operating system. The device, however, is also slated to receive Android 8.0 Oreo in the future.
