Huawei Nova 2S & Honor V10’s Dummies Leak Side By Side

A set of images said to be depicting the Huawei Nova 2S next to the Honor V10 leaked online earlier this month, having originally appeared on Chinese social media platform Weibo. A closer inspection of the photographs that can be seen below suggests that the handsets are actually just dummies meant to be displayed in stores, though the side-by-side comparison they provide should still be fairly representative of the Nova 2S that’s expected to launch later this week.

Huawei seems to be ready to deliver a handset that’s somewhat similar to the device recently introduced by its subsidiary, having opted for an offering that boasts a tall display panel with an aspect ratio of 18:9 (2:1) and slim bezels while still leaving just enough room for a physical Home button that’s believed to be doubling as a fingerprint reader. The tiny top bezel of the device is seen as accommodating a dual-camera setup and a traditional-looking earpiece, with the top left corner of the phone’s rear panel also featuring a two-lens imaging system accompanied by a dual-LED (dual-tone) flash. The Nova 2S sports a glossy glass finish which could theoretically allow wireless charging, with both of its rear cameras being listed as sporting an aperture of f/1.8. The newly leaked smartphone has a physical footprint that’s almost identical to the one of the Honor V10 and is also equipped with a single bottom-facing speaker, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The most notable difference between the two is the implementation of their primary cameras, with Huawei’s offering lacking a large camera bump.

The Chinese original equipment manufacturer is said to be planning an official Nova 2S launch on Thursday, December 7th, though it’s currently unclear whether the handset is meant for a global release or if it will remain exclusive to the Far Eastern country. According to previous reports, the device will be powered by the HiSilicon Kirin 960 SoC and 6GB of RAM, in addition to running Android 8.0 Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 out of the box. The base model with 64GB of internal flash memory is likely to retail for approximately $400. Should Huawei choose to release the Nova 2S in other markets, it may end up rebranding the phone since it never shied away from that type of product practices.
