Huawei Nova 2s With Glossy Finish Pops Up In Hands-On Photos

An upcoming Huawei smartphone known as the Nova 2s was recently spotted in a series of leaked hands-on photos detailing its overall design from all angles. The back of the device appears to closely resemble the Honor V10, with the exception that while that model carries an all-metal build, the alleged Huawei Nova 2s seems to adopt a glass sandwich design with a glossy back panel. Like the V10 launched by Huawei’s subsidiary Honor, the smartphone seen in these photos carries two main cameras on the back panel and lacks a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, but unlike the aforementioned model, the alleged Huawei Nova 2s also seems inspired by the Nova 2i introduced earlier this year and features two front-facing sensors.

The two rear-facing cameras will reportedly be 20-megapixel and 16-megapixel affairs, whereas each one of the two front-facing units will offer a 20-megapixel resolution. The physical home button presumably doubles as a fingerprint recognition sensor, and furthermore, the photos confirm that the smartphone is equipped with a standard 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom. Like many other smartphones launched this year, Huawei’s upcoming model also seems to feature a large display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, thin bezels, and rounded corners. As for other specifications, unofficial information suggests that the handset will rely on an in-house Kirin 960 system-on-chip paired with 6GB of RAM, and run Android 8.0 Oreo covered by Huawei’s OS skin EMUI 8.0.

According to some promotional materials and launch event invites recently seen in China, the Huawei Nova 2s is set to be introduced in Beijing in just a few days, specifically on December 7, two days after its subsidiary Honor will host its own product launch event. Judging by these leaked hands-on photos, the device should be available in at least three color options including black, white, and blue. Other reports suggest that the Nova 2s will fit in the 2,500-3,000 yuan price range, which translates to roughly $377 to $453 at today’s conversion rate, but as far as availability is concerned, the device could remain exclusive to the Chinese market and only time will tell if it will eventually be available globally and whether it’ll be rebranded if it does.
