MIUI Now Counts Over 300 Million Active Users, Globally

Most of you probably know that Xiaomi’s smartphones ship with the company’s proprietary UI called MIUI (with the exception of the Xiaomi Mi A1 which comes with stock Android), and the company has just announced that MIUI now has over 300 million active users on a global scale. This information was shared by the company’s CEO at the World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, and the news was published by the company’s official ‘MIUI.com’ website.

Now, on May 10, 2016, the company’s CEO announced that MIUI has crossed the 200 million mark, which means that it took the company’s OS about a year and a half to attract an additional 100 million users. This is yet another landmark for this China-based company which is quite young compared to other tech giants out there, for those of you who do not know, Xiaomi was founded back in 2010. In any case, Xiaomi has also released a timeline for MIUI, so that you can track its progress ever since it was announced back in August 2010. It took the OS about 14-15 months to reach its first million of users, while it managed to hit 10 million in January 2013. The 100 million users mark was reached in April 2015, and the only two and a half years later, MIUI is at 300 million active users. If you’d like to check out the whole timeline for yourself, which contains exact dates and everything, check out the image provided down below. For those of you who have not used MIUI just yet, this OS is quite fast, though considerably different than stock Android. MIUI does not offer an app drawer, and its design is also considerably different compared to stock Android, as are some of its features.

It is worth noting that the company already started rolling out MIUI 9 to both Chinese and global users, though not everyone received it just yet, the company is rolling out the update for one device at a time, though a ton of devices will get the update. Having said that, Xiaomi had recently announced that the newly-announced Snapdragon 845 SoC will fuel its upcoming flagship, the Xiaomi Mi 7 which was to be expected. The Xiaomi Mi 7 is expected to arrive in the first half of next year, though we’re still not sure when, it is possible that the Mi 7 will land in April, just like its predecessor.
