Report: Honor To Stick To 18:9 Handsets From This Point On

According to Roland Quandt, a well-known tipster, Honor Germany has confirmed that it has no plans to announce smartphones with 16:9 display aspect ratios from now on, which essentially means that its upcoming flagship, the Honor 10, will be the first flagship from the company to sport an 18:9 display. The Honor 10 is actually expected to arrive in mid-2018, at least if the company plans to stick to its release cycle, as the Honor 9 landed back in June last year.

The Honor 10 is also expected to be quite compact, as the Honor 9 sported a 5.15-inch display. The Honor 10 will, almost certainly, ship with a larger display than that, but thanks to its taller display, and thinner bezels, which will almost certainly be a part of the offering, the device will manage to remain quite compact. Honor is not exactly expected to announce a ton of devices in 2018, but according to the provided info, every smartphone that the company does release will ship with an 18:9 display, which includes the Honor View 10’s successor. The Honor View 10, which was announced not that long ago, also sports an 18:9 display ratio, and it is kind of the larger counterpart to the Honor 9, which is yet another indication that the Honor 10 may be considerably more compact than the Honor View 10, as its larger counterpart, which is scheduled to arrive in late 2018, will sport a display of around 6-inches.

Roland Quandt also said that Android Oreo will start rolling out to the Honor 7X in the second quarter of the year, and that the Honor 8 will get the update soon as well. The Honor 9 and Honor 8 Pro already started receiving Android 8.0 Oreo, as reported the other day. As far as the Honor 10 is concerned, we do not have all that much info at the moment, other than the fact that the phone will be quite compact. Chances are that the device will be made out of metal and glass, just like its predecessor, though there’s a chance that the company may opt for a metal unibody build instead, we’ll just have to wait and see. The phone will, almost certainly, ship with the Kirin 970 64-bit octa-core processor, which is Huawei’s flagship SoC, and you can expect to see 6GB of RAM included in the package as well, even though a 4GB RAM variant is also a possibility.
