AT&T 5G Evolution Expands to More Than 100 New Markets

AT&T’s 5G Evolution, which isn’t 5G by any means and is just upgraded 4G LTE, has expanded to a whole bunch of new markets. AT&T says to expect it in more than 100, which should mean an upgraded network experience for a whole bunch of their customers.

On AT&T 5G Evolution, supported devices can see theoretic peak speeds of up to 400Mbps. Will your phone see those? Eh, probably depends on how close you are to a tower and how many others are hammering on it with you. Either way, it’s a faster connection speed on 5G Evolution than what you are used to.

The total number of AT&T 5G Evolution markets now sits at 141, thanks to the 117 added.

AT&T estimates that 5G Evolution technologies will be available in over 500 markets later this year, including Baltimore, Charlotte (NC), Cleveland, Denver, Detroit, Jacksonville (FL), Kansas City, Las Vegas, NYC, Philadelphia, Portland, Raleigh, Salt Lake City, Seattle, and Washington DC.

In addition to today’s 5G Evolution news, AT&T also launched LTE-LAA technology in 3 new markets: Boston, Sacramento, and McAllen, Texas.

Make fun of 5G Evolution all you want (and AT&T deserves it), but it’s hard to complain against network improvements.
