AT&T CEO Announces $15/Month ‘Watch’ TV Streaming Service While Testifying in Federal Court

During his testimony in federal court for an ongoing antitrust trial, AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson shared plans for AT&T Watch, an upcoming TV streaming service that will cost only $15/month.

The awkwardly timed announcement came as an example for why the federal government should allow AT&T to purchase Time Warner. While the federal government says this deal could hurt US consumers, AT&T’s CEO states AT&T Watch could be one of the benefits from a purchase.

While details are still scarce, AT&T Watch will essentially be a skinny bundle of cable channels that users can stream to their smartphones or anywhere else it’s accessible. Unlike AT&T’s DIRECTV NOW, AT&T Watch will not support any sports, allowing them to cut the price down to just $15/month.

One interesting aspect is availability, which AT&T did provide details for. According to AT&T, Watch will be available to anyone, regardless of their wireless or broadband provider. Additionally, it will be provided free of charge to those with AT&T unlimited wireless service.

AT&T mentions Watch should launch within the next several weeks.

So, a skinny streamable TV package with no sports. Are you interested?
