First Official Meizu 15 Night-Time Camera Sample Appears

Meizu will introduce three new smartphones on April 22, the Meizu 15, 15 Plus, and 15 Lite, and the very first camera sample from the Meizu 15 has just surfaced online. Now, this image was shared by the company directly, as it was published on the company’s official page on Weibo (Chinese social network). Meizu does not elaborate which phone exactly was used to take this image, and even though the watermark in the lower-right corner says ‘Meizu 15’, it is easily possible that Meizu will use that watermark for both the Meizu 15 and Meizu 15 Plus, so it could be either one of the two devices, and it really doesn’t matter which one took it as both will sport the exact same dual camera setup on the back, unlike the Meizu 15 Lite, which will arrive with ‘only’ one camera on the back.

As you can see, this image was taken during the night in China, we’re not sure what city is this, we’d guess Shanghai, but we’re not 100-percent sure. In any case, the image itself looks okay, you can see plenty of detail when you zoom in a bit, even though the quality deteriorates, of course. There is some grain in the image, which was to be expected, but the image is bright enough, and not many people will complain if the final product actually ends up taking such images in the dark, though it’s definitely nowhere near the best nighttime image we’ve seen. It’s obvious some sort of software sharpening is taking place here, though it’s not too aggressive, at least it doesn’t seem to be. We’re still not sure what sensors exactly will be used on the back of the Meizu 15 and 15 Plus, but you’ll get 12 and 20-megapixel snappers on both devices.

The Meizu 15 Plus actually popped up on AnTuTu yesterday, and that listing confirmed that the phone will be fueled by the Exynos 8895, which means that it won’t ship with the Snapdragon 845, or the Exynos 9810, which are the latest and greatest chips out there. The listing also confirmed that the phone will ship with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, while you’ll get Meizu’s Flyme UI on top of it, quite probably Flyme 7. The phone will include 6GB of RAM, 64GB of native storage, and it will ship with a QHD (2560 x 1440) display. You can check out the aforementioned camera sample down below, though do keep in mind that it has been compressed (though the quality did not really deteriorate much because of it), if you’d like to open up the original image, follow the source link down below, though you’ll need to be logged in to Weibo in order to access the original file.
