Fitbit Versa Is Now Available For $199, Special Edition For $229

The Fitbit Versa was announced last month, at an event in New York City, as the company’s second-generation smartwatch since acquiring Pebble. And now that smartwatch is finally available for purchase. The Fitbit Versa has been on pre-order for a few weeks, but now it is officially available, so you can pick it up from both Amazon and Fitbit, we have links to both retailers at the bottom of this post.

With the Versa, Fitbit aimed to create a smartwatch for everyone. The Ionic, which the company released last year, was aimed more at those that are fitness buffs, those that do a lot of running and such. The Versa is a smaller smartwatch, that you may even forget is on your wrist, and has a 1:1 display versus the Ionic. This one is more about style, but it still has all of the features you’d expect from Fitbit. That includes the ability to track your sleep, so you can see how well or not so well, you’re sleeping, and that is thanks to the battery lasting around four to five days. Additionally, you can track the usual steps and calories, as well as your workouts. The Versa, like the Ionic and Flex 2, are all waterproof, and can track your swimming. So if you are big into swimming, the Versa is definitely worth picking up.

Fitbit sells the Versa in three colors: black/black aluminum, peach/rose gold aluminum and gray/silver aluminum for the regular version. Now the special edition, which is $30 more at a price tag of $229, comes in charcoal woven/graphite aluminum and lavendar woven/rose gold aluminum. The special edition models are the only way to get those woven straps, which look really nice. On top of that, in the US, the special edition models are the only ones with NFC included. So if you are looking to use Fitbit Pay with the Fitbit Versa, then you’re going to want to splurge for the special edition here. Fitbit told AndroidHeadlines that the reasoning behind this was because mobile payments aren’t as popular in the US as it is in other markets. In most other markets, the regular model of the Versa has NFC included. The other reason was to get the Versa under the $200 price point, which Fitbit believes is the sweet spot for a smartwatch right now.
