Nokia X Android Mid-Ranger Leaks Again Ahead Of Launch

One of the upcoming smartphones from the Nokia X series identified by the model number TA-1099 has been extensively leaked in a handful of hands-on photos, along with additional images depicting various promotional materials. Furthermore, judging by the other newly shared photos, HMD Global appears to have set up at least one booth in China dedicated to the Nokia X series, indicating that its launch in the country is likely to fall in line with previous reports teasing an April 27 unveiling.

Although HMD Global’s new smartphone series is expected to include two models, one of which has been referred to as the Nokia X6, the leaked images at hand make no mention of that variant and instead appear to focus solely on the TA-1099, which may hit the shelves as the Nokia X. Whatever the case may be, the Nokia-branded smartphone seen in the latest photos included in the gallery below features an already familiar design, having a display notch at the top, thin bezels, rounded display corners, and an elongated image format. Its back panel appears to be covered with glass and holds two main cameras and an LED flash aligned vertically, as well as a circular fingerprint sensor surrounded by a chromed frame. The Nokia branding can be seen both on the back panel and the lower bezel of the device, while a standard 3.5-millimeter headphone jack resides at the top of the handset. Most of the hardware characteristics remain unknown, with recent rumors only pointing to a mid-range series with between 4GB and 6GB of RAM and chips from both Qualcomm and MediaTek, depending on the model.

As far as availability goes, there is a high possibility that the Nokia X will be unveiled in China today, and judging by the wallpaper applied to the smartphone seen in the photos, the unit might become available for purchase on May 15. It’s unclear whether HMD Global intends on launching the two models simultaneously and whether or not the one identified as the TA-1109 will follow the same release schedule as the TA-1099. In any case, the Nokia X seen in the new images is bound to become the OEM’s second smartphone to carry an aspect ratio taller than 16:9, following the Nokia 7 Plus introduced at MWC in February, which comes with an 18:9 image format.
