PayPal Support Is Rolling Out To Samsung Pay Now

First announced back in July of last year, Samsung’s NFC-based mobile payments app – Samsung Pay – is finally getting the option to add PayPal as a payment method. That means users of the popular mobile payment method will be able to add a PayPal account and use it to pay anywhere Samsung Pay is accepted. The rollout started as recently as April 8 and appears to be moving at a measured rate, so users shouldn’t be too concerned if it hasn’t hit them just yet. Meanwhile, anybody interested can hit the Google Play button below to check whether it has arrived.

Adding a PayPal account, on the other hand, is much more straightforward. Users just need to make sure the version of the app they have is up-to-date and then select the plus-symbol icon in the top-right hand corner. That will open up the “Add” menu, which will have cards highlighting the various payment methods that can be chosen. On the card titled, “Add payment card,” there should now be a blue link for adding a PayPal account. Clicking that option should result in a page to help users get signed in to their PayPal, following the on-screen instructions. Once added, the payment method will work like any other within Samsung Pay, making life easier than ever for those consumers who don’t want to depend on a bank or bank card for their digital shopping needs.

Obviously, this app is only going to work on Samsung’s NFC-enabled handsets, which generally includes its current or previous flagships and a couple of its wearables. It also only appears to be rolling out in the U.S., as of this writing. There’s a chance it will be released to other regions where PayPal is available soon enough but no official timeline has been given. For now, the app has reportedly been rolling out to users of Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8 phablet flagship. That won’t likely be the only handset for very long, even if it does initially only release to the U.S. In the meantime, everybody else is just going to have to keep an eye out for the update.
