Acer Chromebook Tab 10 Will Likely Be Available In June

The Acer Chromebook Tab 10, the first Chrome OS-powered tablet offering, will likely become available in the United States in June. This information came from the websites of online retailers ShopBLT and Promevo. However, according to the live inventory tool of ShopBLT, the retailer will only be receiving seven units of the device next month, while at least 500 units of the Chromebook Tab 10 are scheduled to arrive from the manufacturer in July and August. Meanwhile, Neobits, another online retailer, also mentioned that it will take more than 8 weeks before consumers could receive their units of the Chromebook Tab 10.

The Acer Chromebook Tab 10 was first unveiled by the Taiwanese device maker last March, and it was originally scheduled to become available in the United States in April. Unlike other popular Chrome OS-based devices, the Chromebook Tab 10 has a tablet form factor, allowing the device to compete with the more portable iPad, and it also ships with a Wacom EMR Stylus, which the manufacturer noted should result in an improved writing and drawing experience for students. The tablet is powered by the OP1 chipset, which consists of a six-core CPU with two ARM Cortex A72 CPU cores and four ARM Cortex A53 CPU cores. The tablet’s CPU is clocked at up to 2GHz. In addition, the Chromebook Tab 10 includes 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal flash storage, which could be expanded using a microSD card. The device ships with a 9.7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2048 by 1536 pixels and an aspect ratio of 4:3. The rear camera of the tablet is equipped with a 5-megapixel sensor while the front-facing camera has a 2-megapixel module.

The device also supports connectivity features including 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1. Furthermore, the Acer Chromebook Tab 10 includes a USB Type-C port that is capable of delivering data transfer speeds of up to 5Gbps. The tablet also features support for Android applications and in the future, the product will also be able to support augmented reality software. When it was unveiled, Acer mentioned that the Chromebook Tab 10 will retail for $329 in the United States, while in Europe, Middle East, and Africa, the device should ship with a price tag of €329.
