Xiaomi’s 8th Anniversary Phone To Launch Alongside The Mi 7

A recent rumor claimed that the Xiaomi Mi 7 will launch alongside the Mi Band 3 later this month, but it seems like Xiaomi plans to announce an additional device alongside those two, at least if a new rumor is to be believed. Today’s rumor suggests that the company will also announce its 8th Anniversary Edition smartphone alongside the Mi 7, and it also notes that it may create more buzz than the Mi 7 itself.

Now, Xiaomi’s 8th Anniversary Edition smartphone may be the first Xiaomi-branded smartphone to sport 3D facial scanning, despite the fact the Mi 7 was rumored to get it first. We’ve seen two leaked firmware when it comes to the Mi 7, one claimed that it will ship with 3D facial scanning, the other one said it will not, and the latter one was newer, so the 8th Anniversary phone may actually be the first to get it. That is pretty much all the info that was released regarding the 8th Anniversary smartphone, we’ll just have to wait and see if it will become a reality. The Xiaomi Mi 7, on the other hand, has been rumored for a long time now, and plenty of info surfaced, though there’s no way to confirm whether that info is accurate or not. Earlier this year. Xiaomi did confirm that the phone will be fueled by the Snapdragon 845, and the device is also expected to ship with wireless charging, as Xiaomi joined the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) a while back. This also means that the phone will almost certainly ship with a glass back.

The Xiaomi Mi 7 will be more compact than the Mi MIX 2S, as it will ship with a noticeably smaller display, at least if rumors are to be believed. Several rumors claimed that the phone will include a 5.45-inch fullHD+ display, and the device will probably ship with 6GB of RAM, though an 8GB RAM variant is also a possibility. It is still unclear whether the Mi 7 will include an OLED panel or not, though the phone will probably ship with a dual camera setup on its back. The Mi 7 was also rumored to sport an in-display fingerprint scanner, but chances are that it will ship with a rear-facing one instead, though nothing has been confirmed just yet.
