Alleged Motorola Moto C2 Android Go Phone Appears At FCC

It seems like Motorola is preparing to launch an Android Go device as well, in addition to the Motorola One Power Android One phone that is coming. The Motorola XT1920 has popped up on the FCC in the US, which essentially means it received its certification in the country. This listing actually follows the ECC listing for sales in some European and Asian markets, so this is not the first time we’re seeing this model appear online.

Having said that, this listing, in particular, does not reveal any specific info about the phone, but previous certification listings did say that the phone will ship with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, while a 2,000mAh battery was also mentioned. Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n was also mentioned, and the same can be said for Cat. 10 4G LTE connectivity. The Motorola XT1920 is 147.88mm tall, and 71.22mm wide, which essentially means that it will be quite a compact phone, even though we still do not know how large will its display be, it all depends on what resolution are we looking at here (aspect ratio, that is), and how thin / thick its side and top bezels will be. Now, the alleged Moto C2 did surface in a render last month, though we’re not entirely sure that leak is accurate. If it is, however, the device will sport rather thick bezels above and below the display, while its side bezels will not exactly be thin either. A button will be included below the display, and that button may double as a fingerprint scanner, while a device will include a single camera on the back.

Now, considering this will be an Android Go smartphone, it will ship with a special ‘Go’ build of Android, which means that it will sport a lighter version of Android adapted for smartphones with less powerful specs. It will include a number of ‘Go’ apps as well, like Google Maps Go, YouTube Go, Gmail Go, and so on. Android Go had been released by Google for devices which ship with 1GB of RAM or less, and such devices are mainly aimed at emerging markets, though this new FCC listing may suggest that the phone will become available in the US at some point as well.
