Android 8.0 Rollout Starting For The Galaxy A8 (2018) Series

Samsung has started rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo for the Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8 Plus (2018). The Galaxy A8 and A8 Plus user manual has been updated recently, confirming that the two devices will get Dolby Atmos support along with Android 8.0 Oreo update, and the update is finally here. The Galaxy A8 and A8 Plus will get the ‘A530FXXU2BRG1’ and ‘A730FXXU2BRG1’ software versions, respectively, and it’s worth noting that this is a staged update, and that it has started rolling out for unlocked devices, and it seems like it’s starting in Asia, while Europe should get it soon, same goes for other regions. Do keep in mind that it may take a while to reach your device though, as it has not started rolling out in all countries at the same time.

The company did not detail what’s new in this update just yet, but you can expect a similar set of features as for the other Galaxy-branded smartphones. A number of Samsung’s smartphones are already running Android 8.0 Oreo, mainly flagship phones, though, but the Galaxy A8 and A8 Plus will get regular (stock) Android 8.0 Oreo features, along with some additions by Samsung, of course. A new version of Samsung’s Home Experience launcher will be available, along with some slight interface updates. The picture-in-picture mode will become available to Galaxy A8 and A8 Plus users as soon as they update to Android 8.0 Oreo, while some new battery optimizations are also included in the update. Some improvements to the notification shade have also been introduced with Android 8.0 Oreo, and are a part of Samsung’s Android 8.0 Oreo-based Android skin as well.

The Galaxy A8 and A8 Plus were introduced back in December last year, and they both originally shipped with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. The Galaxy A8 and A8 Plus are the company’s mid-range smartphones, but they’re actually quite powerful, and pricey at the same time. Both devices are made out of metal and glass, and both are fueled by the Exynos 7885 64-bit octa-core SoC. These two phones sport rather thin bezels, and Super AMOLED displays.
