TP-Link Announces The Kasa Cam Outdoor

TP-Link’s smart home division, Kasa, has just announced its first outdoor camera in the Kasa Cam Outdoor. This announcement comes nearly a year after TP-Link announced its first indoor camera, and it is building on the success of that camera with this new outdoor camera. It’s a weatherproof camera, which is what makes it an outdoor one. It does also have crystal-clear 1080p streaming video as well as crisp two-way audio and night vision (for up to 30-feet away). The Kasa Cam Outdoor can also zoom in if you need to do so.

Of course, the Kasa Cam Outdoor does work with the existing Kasa Smart app, so you can view a live feed of the camera on your phone, no matter where you are. You will also get notifications, as you would with any smart camera out there. You can set up activity zones, so you can choose the area where you want to get notifications for motion being detected. This is good because you can set up the zone so that it isn’t covered with tree branches, and getting useless notifications. There is also Motion Duration Detection here. So if there are fast micro second motion events, it won’t notify you. That is for things like a bug flying through or something like that.

As far as availability goes, the TP-Link Kasa Cam Outdoor is available today from Amazon for $139. That’s a pretty decent price for an outdoor camera, considering most are between $100 and $200, depending on their feature-set. This camera from TP-Link is pretty rich in features and would be a great option for mounting outside your home to keep an eye on your property. Which is pretty important these days, and it’s much cheaper than paying a company like ADT to keep an eye on your home and make sure everything is safe and sound.
