Android 9-Based OxygenOS Beta Build Available For OnePlus 6

OnePlus has announced that Android 9 Pie-based OxygenOS Open Beta 1 is available for the OnePlus 6, the company’s flagship handset. This is the first official Android 9 Pie build of OxygenOS that is available for the device, and it basically brings the stable build one step closer. The company has released a changelog for this build of OxygenOS, while a tutorial as to how to install this Open Beta build has also been shared.

As far as the changelog is concerned, installing this update will bring forth a brand new OxygenOS UI, for Android 9 Pie, of course. On top of that, you will also get a new Android 9 Pie gesture navigation, while “other new features and system improvements” have also been listed in the company’s official changelog. This build of OxygenOS also supports accent color customization, and it brings new Do Not Disturb (DnD) moe with adjustable settings. New Gaming Mode 3.0 is also a part of this build, and it adds text notification mode and notification for 3rd party calls. As part of the changelog, the company also listed some known issues with this build. First and foremost, the company notes that some applications may not function as expected, as this is a beta build of OxygenOS after all. Google Pay will not work on this build either, while the Google Play Store might show ‘Device is not Certified by Google’ warning, and that will happen because this is a beta build as well, though it’s nothing to worry about.

The company has laid installation instruction in its forum post, and we’re looking at several different tutorials, actually. The first tutorial will explain how to upgrade to this beta build from a stable official version of OxygenOS, while the second one will show you how to do it from the Developer Preview version. The third tutorial will explain how to downgrade from Android P Beta version to the MP version, if that’s something you want to do. All of those instructions are available on OnePlus Forums, and you can access them directly by following the source link down below.
