Huawei Band 3 Pro Passes Through The FCC

Huawei’s as-yet-unannounced Band 3 Pro fitness wearable has now been spotted passing through the FCC. Despite confidentiality requests from the company, pertaining to photos and the user manual, the certification actually reveals quite a few details about that follow-up to last year’s models. In particular, the label location documentation associated with the wrist-borne wearable appears to show nearly the entire back side of the package it will ship in. The information contained there suggests that the Chinese manufacturer has moved from a passive-matrix OLED (PMOLED) panel to a ‘multi-color’ active-matrix OLED (AMOLED) display. TruSeen active real-time heart rate monitoring and TruSleep sleep and sleep stage monitoring have been bumped to version 2.0 in the latest model as well, although there’s no indication as to what features that might bring with it. Meanwhile, 5ATM water resistance remains intact, as do GPS, smart notifications from a connected smartphone, and multi-sport tracking. The latter of those includes position-based tracking of “posture” during swimming activities.

As a fitness wearable, it should be no surprise that Bluetooth is still a part of the device build as shown in both the back label and test documentation. However, no version number is listed with regard to Bluetooth so it isn’t clear what the full extent of its capabilities will include. Looking past that and into the above-mentioned test documents, Huawei has opted to keep the battery used in the previous model. That’s a unit with a capacity of 100mAh, charged via a 5V/2A dock, suggesting that magnetic pins will be used in the charging process. Presumably, the company hasn’t gotten rid of fast-charging capabilities and has possibly even improved on those. The documents don’t reveal that or whether any improvements have been made to the overall battery life but that is most likely the case since other technologies found in wearables has continued to improve since the previous iteration.

In the meantime, there’s no information avaiable in the current documents that might point to any specific launch or announcement date or pricing for the upcoming Huawei Band 3 Pro. A confidentiality request by the company will also keep any external or internal photos under wraps until at least March of next year. So there’s also no way to know for sure what color variations might be available or exactly what the design might be aesthetically. Having said that, the model number of the new Huawei wearable is listed as “TER-B19.” If nothing else, that should make it fairly easy to recognize in any future leaks.
